Nothing Song

Today's the day that nothing happened.
A clouded haze is all that's safe

I'm not sure
but my mind does know
what can be endured
and what must be erased.

I just can't remember.
Maybe we can talk
about something different, okay?
Like a cold December
the ground is frozen
and we won't taste new fruit today.

Can you hear this nothing song?
One day nothing went so wrong.
No one knows, except us three:
God and you, and maybe me.

Today's the day that nothing ended.
Meet this pain that I've befriended.
Like a dream that I've forgotten
nothing's gone, so misbegotten.

They said go, and so we went.
I don't know when life begins,
but I know when a life can end.
I save tears to be spent
for the day of healing
when I finally won't forget.

There are nothings in our heart
that only Love reveals.
There's a place a soul inhabits
that only God can heal.
