The Inclination of Snow

Consider the inclination of snow, its tacit argument
for peace, the way it seems to know no

complication, admit no fault in itself or in anything
within its reach, its endless devotion to ice

and the listening arts, its tendency toward under
statement, its selfless commitment to multi

chrome. Sympathize with the heft of winter it
hides in the darkness its depth creates, admire how

its skims keep secrets to protect what it knows
it must protect—just so the cycle will never

end, so that the taming of the world will last for at
least between the moment it falls and the moment

it melts, after which it will rush through the creeks
and streets again, wild as rain.
