Are there failed persons? Am I one of them? John O’Callaghan
This past weekend ND’s De Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture held their annual Fall Conference. This year’s theme was “Dust of the Earth: On Persons.” John O’Callaghan’s was excellent. Please do take a listen. It is especially important after the passage of ballot pro-abortion decisions in Ohio and Michigan.
Risking Enchantment: A Podcast with Rachel Sherlock
I had the good fortune to attend the Fall conference last weekend and meet lots of wonderful people, including Rachel Sherlock. Her podcast is about “art, beauty, and the Catholic faith.”
UFOs and Aliens Are (Probably) Not What You Think: An Interview with Diana Walsh Pasulka
Rod Dreher interviews Diana Walsh Pasulka about her new book, Encounters: Experiences with Non-Human Intelligences. This is an incredibly interesting and slightly frightening interview, but it’s important to read and understand what is happening around us.
To be clear, I was religious prior to this research. I attended church, sometimes several times a week. After this research I had a much more visceral, almost literal, sense of religion and religious practice. I hope this makes sense. I became aware of the “invisible and visible” that Catholics talk about in the Creed they recite every week. That was the effect that this had on my faith. It changed my life.
Jack Butler on Why The Exorcist Endures
This is a fun little article with some really interesting links. I’ve never seen The Exorcist or read the book and don’t plan to, but I like reading about them both.
