American poet and scholar Helen Pinkerton passed away just before the new year. James Matthew Wilson writes about her legacy: “Over six decades, Pinkerton composed a slender body of austere, philosophical lyrics and probing historical narrative poems that have earned a permanent place in our literature. A true heir to the metaphysical poets of the seventeenth century, Pinkerton’s lyrics were genuinely, or shall we say literally, worthy of that title; her abiding theme was the nature of being.”Radio Maria recently conducted a radio interview with our own Karen Ullo about her novels and Catholic letters in general.Minimalist trendiness or absolute wickedness?—interior designers are convincing many to place books on shelves with the spines hidden. “Neutrals-loving lit nerds are drawn to the calming color scheme, while others find the spines-to-the-back display super silly.”The arm of St. Francis Xavier is currently touring through Canada.
