Last night we had the delight of releasing the 40th edition of Dappled Things. Among other magnificent pieces, this issue includes:
- an essay on Go Set a Watchman that explores a crucial aspect of the novel missed by most reviewers;
- “The Order of Small Things,” an honorable mention from this year’s short fiction prize, in which a mother learns her new baby has been diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome;
- “Communion,” our feature for this issue, in which the author explores the marvelous mixture of the sacred and the profane during a Holy Week in Barcelona;
- Nicora Gangi’s still life paintings, some of the most striking and mysterious you’ve ever seen.
Unfortunately, we still have almost $6,000 to raise in order to reach our crucial fundraising goal for this campaign. Without these funds, we cannot continue to operate next year. Help us make sure that our amazing 4oth edition won’t be our last. Donate today to get a deduction on this year’s taxes.
NOTE: Donations at *all* levels are needed. However, it’s worth noting that in order to reach our goal, we need around 25 donors willing to support us at a level of $250 or above. So far, unfortunately, we have received only 7 donations at this level. Please consider what you may be able to contribute and give as you can. Donors who support us with $250 or more will receive a signed, museum quality, limited edition print of Ann Schmalstieg’s Yet to Bloom, published in a previous edition of the journal.
